Here’s a special tip for this recipe. Notice it has cocoa powder in the taco meat recipe. This is a trick that has been used in my family for a very long time. It may seem a bit strange but it will intensify the flavors of the other seasonings in a way that is absolutely delightful. We’ve used this same technique in our Quick Keto Chili recipe and it’s gotten rave reviews! People love it and I’m sure you will too!

Keto Taco Chaffle Ingredients (makes 2 chaffles)

Chaffle Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup cheese (cheddar or mozzarella), shredded
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 teaspoon Italian seasoning

Taco Meat Seasonings for 1 lbs of ground beef

  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon cocoa powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/12 teaspoon smoked paprika

I tend to make this in big batches so I always have some on hand! I keep it in mason jars that I can seal and keep in my kitchen pantry. Just add a little label to it and you are good to go. It’s so easy to make taco meat seasonings that there’s no real reason to purchase the premade taco seasoning packets because they are loaded with not so good ingredients.

Keto Taco Chaffle Shells Pro Tip: You can either use a taco stand to stuff the tacos or you can hang the hot chaffles over a skewer like this to give them the shape you want. Once they cool, they will hold their shape.
