Most of uslive in a fast pace city and before you know it it’s a start of a new day. With work, family and friends, we can hardly find the time to have a home cooked meal. We get it, by the time you get home from work after a long haul in traffic can be very exhausting. And the last thing you want, is to go home and cook. So, instead you get take out on the way back. What if we told you that we listed down recipes, that will only take you fivesteps or less to complete? Have we gotten your attention?

Greek-Style Turkey Burgers

Ingredients:-

  • 1 lb ground turkey
  • 1 cup crumbled feta cheese
  • 1/2 cup olive, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon italian seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ground black pepper, to taste

Method:-

  1. Combine all the ingredients in a large bowl.
  2. Form into 4 patties, then grill/pan fry.
  3. Served on regular burger buns with tomatoes and mayonnaise / on pita with tahini, tomatoes and lettuce.

Chinese Fried Rice

Ingredients:-

  • 4 cups overnight rice
  • 1 tablespoon fish sauce
  • 1/2 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1/8 tablespoon salt
  • 1/4 tablespoon sweet soy sauce
  • 3 dashes white pepper powder
  • 1 skinless and boneless chicken breast (cut into small cubes)
  • 1/2 cup baby shrimp
  • 1/2 cup green peas
  • 2 tablespoons cooking oil
  • 2 cloves garlic (finely chopped)
  • 2 eggs (light beaten)

Method:-

  1. Heat up a wok with two tablespoons of oil,sauté the garlic until aromatic.
  2. Add in chicken, baby shrimp and peas and stir fry until they are half cooked, season with salt and continue to stir-fry until they are 80% cooked.
  3. Add in the overnight rice and stir well with the ingredients. Add in soy sauce, fish sauce, sweet soy sauce, white pepper powder and continue to fry the rice for a couple of minutes.
  4. Make a “well” in the middle of the wok and pour the beaten eggs in the well. Wait for 30 seconds and then cover the “egg well” with rice. Leave it for 30 seconds and continue to stir-fry the fried rice so the eggs form small pieces and mix well with the fried rice.

Fettuccine with Sweet Pepper-Cayenne Sauce

Ingredients:-

  • 12 ounces dry fettuccine pasta
  • 2 red bell peppers, julienned
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 cup reduced fat sour cream
  • 3/4 cup chicken broth
  • 3/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • salt and pepper to taste

Method:-

  1. Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Add pasta and cook for 8 to 10 minutes or until al dente; drain.
  2. Meanwhile, spray cooking oil in a large skillet and saute red bell peppers, garlic and cayenne pepper over medium heat for 3 to 5 minutes.
  3. Stir in sour cream and broth; simmer uncovered for 5 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in cheese.
  4. Toss hot pasta with sauce and season with salt and pepper to taste; serve.

Pepperoni Pizza Wrap

Ingredients:-

  • 1 stick light string cheese
  • 1 medium-large high-fiber flour tortilla with about 110 calories
  • 2 tablespoons pizza sauce
  • Dash Italian seasoning
  • Dash garlic powder
  • Dash onion powder
  • 1/4 cup chopped spinach leaves
  • 1/4 cup canned stewed tomatoes, roughly chopped, patted dry
  • 1 teaspoon reduced-fat Parmesan-style grated topping
  • 6 pieces turkey pepperoni, chopped

Method:-

  1. Set toaster oven to highest setting.
  2. Break string cheese into thirds and put in a blender or food processor-blend at high speed until cheese takes on a shredded or grated consistency. (Or just tear string cheese into pieces and roughly chop.) Set aside.
  3. Place tortilla on a microwave-safe plate and microwave for 10 seconds, or until just warm. Evenly spread sauce onto the center of the tortilla, and sprinkle with a dash of each of the spices. Top with spinach, stewed tomatoes, Parm-style topping, chopped turkey pepperoni, and shredded/grated string cheese.
  4. Wrap tortilla up like a burrito, folding the sides in first, and then rolling it up from the bottom. Place wrap on a microwave-safe plate, seam side down, and warm in the microwave for 30 seconds.
  5. Transfer wrap to the toaster oven and cook until hot on the inside and slightly crisp on the outside, about 3 minutes. Dig in!

Chow Mein (Chinese Noodles)

Ingredients:-

  • 8 oz. steamed chow mein (Chinese noodles)
  • 5 shrimp (shelled and deveined)
  • 3 garlic cloves (finely chopped)
  • 1/2 cup shredded cabbage
  • 1/4 cup shredded carrot
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon Chinese dark soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 2 tablespoons cooking oil
  • 2 stalks scallions (cut into 2-inch length)
  • Salt to taste

Method:-

  1. Soak the steamed chow mein in cold water for about 5 minutes. Rinse a few times until the water turns clear and the chow mein is soft. Drain the excess water and set aside. (Don’t over soak the chow mein or the noodles will get limp and soggy.)
  2. In a small mixing bowl, mix all the seasoning ingredients. Set aside.
  3. Heat up the wok with the cooking oil. Add in the chopped garlic and stir-fry until light brown or aromatic. Add the pork and shrimp and stir fry until they are half done. Add the shredded cabbage and carrot into the wok and do a few quick stirs.
  4. Add the noodles , the seasoning mixture and the water. Continue to stir until the noodles are well blended with the seasonings and completely cooked through.
  5. Add the chopped scallions, do a few final stirs, dish out and and serve hot.
